Safe Environment Program: Ensuring the Safety of Our Community

At St. Louise School, the safety and well-being of our children are our top priorities. To uphold this commitment, all volunteers—and therefore all school parents—are required to complete the Seattle Archdiocese’s Safe Environment program. This program reflects our shared dedication to creating a secure and supportive environment for everyone in our school and parish community.

The Safe Environment program, also known as Virtus, includes:

  • Criminal Background Checks: Conducted on clergy, employees, parents, and volunteers to ensure the safety of our children.
  • Comprehensive Training: Volunteers and staff are trained to recognize signs of abuse and neglect of minors and vulnerable adults, how to report suspected abuse, and how to maintain a safe environment in our parishes and schools.

This program also emphasizes the importance of educating children about personal safety. It equips them with age-appropriate tools to understand how to seek help from parents or other trusted adults when needed.

The Safe Environment program is thoroughly vetted, research-based, and consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church. It has been reviewed and approved by the Archdiocesan Review Board, the Office of Catholic Faith Formation, and the Archbishop, ensuring it aligns with the values and mission of our faith community.

Together, through this program, we can ensure that St. Louise School remains a place where children are safe, supported, and able to thrive. Thank you for your partnership in this important effort!
