Circulation and Overdue Policies

Library Classes
Grades Pre-K-5 have a weekly library class. Students in grades K-5 check out books each week during their library class.

Circulation Overview
  • Books are checked out for 2 weeks.
  • Books can be renewed by bringing the book to the library or the librarian can renew the book using the Destiny library database.
  • A book cannot be renewed if a reserve/hold has been placed by another student for that book.
Overdue Overview
  • Overdue notices are emailed to parents, every Wednesday at 4:30 PM.
    • Parents can respond to the overdue email, by hitting reply, which goes to the librarian's email.
    • For example: if a student wants to keep a book that is overdue, just hit reply to the overdue email and send a short message: Please renew this book.
  • Books that are a month overdue are assumed to be lost.
    • Students are then on Restricted Status: no check out privileges until the replacement cost is paid or the book is returned to the school library.
After school hours
The school library is open after school, Wednesday and Thursday, from 3 – 3:30 PM. This is an excellent time to discuss books with you and your child or just come to say hello.
