Art
The Art Program at St. Louise School, taught by Mrs. Mika Walker, B.F.A., inspires creativity and self-expression in students from kindergarten through eighth grade. The program fosters a deep appreciation for art through hands-on experiences with various mediums and techniques, integrated with art history and design principles.

Kindergarten / 1st Grade
- Identify colors on the Color Wheel including Primary, Secondary, Warm and Cool colors.
- Identify and draw geometric shapes and recognize patterns and line types.
- Learn art vocabulary including portrait, landscape, collage, symmetry, outline, and more.

2nd / 3rd Grade
- Explore Color Wheel including Neon, Pastel, and Neutral colors.
- Practice color mixing and drawing 3D forms.
- Focus on proportions, balance, and artistic vocabulary including silhouette, resist, stitching, and perspective.

4th / 5th Grade
- Advanced study of color theory including Tertiary, Analogous, and Complementary colors.
- Draw and build 3D forms and recognize positive/negative space.
- Vocabulary includes shading, pointillism, basket weave, composition, and proportion.

Middle School
- Make intentional artistic choices and explore advanced color mixing.
- Collaborate or work independently on complex compositions using depth and scale.
- Learn vocabulary such as symbolism, stop motion, typography, digital drawing, and sculptural relief.
