5th Grade Overview:

Curriculum Overview:
- Religion: Catholic beliefs, sacraments, scripture, and prayer.
- Reading/Language Arts: Comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, literature circles, and writing processes.
- Math: Advanced operations, fractions, geometry, measurement, and problem-solving.
- Science: Life, earth, and physical sciences through inquiry-based learning.
- Social Studies: U.S. history, geography, and government.
Service Projects:
- Sponsorship of an adopted child in Mexico through Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos. The 5th graders organize monthly school-wide treat sales with proceeds going directly to their sponsored child. The sponsored child and 5th grade students write letters back and forth during the year.
- School-wide service initiatives including food drives and support for New Bethlehem Programs.
Enrichment Opportunities:
- 5th graders participate in a three-day field trip, living out the Native American and pioneer experience. Students go back in time to the 1880’s and experience firsthand what homesteading in Washington State was like.
- Participation in safety patrol and the "History-Makers Halls of Fame" project.
- Living Voices presentations tied to historical studies.
The fifth-grade class at St. Louise School is led by Ms. Nancy Franco, who has been teaching at the school since 2020. With a background in environmental science and a passion for teaching, Ms. Franco brings a unique perspective to the classroom. Her approach is supported by a curriculum that emphasizes academic growth, social responsibility, and hands-on learning experiences.
