Policies and Procedures

Greetings, St. Louise students and parents! I am very excited and blessed to be a part of this community and am looking forward to getting to know our new students and families and continuing to build relationships with our returning families. I am a graduate of St. Louise School, Eastside Catholic H.S., and Eastern Washington University. My journey in education began in the Bellevue School District as a substitute teacher and coach. After 7 years in public schools I was hired at St. Brendan Parish School in Bothell where I spent 12 years as the Safety Patrol Supervisor/ Physical Education/Health Specialist. This will be my sixth year back at St. Louise and it is a dream to be teaching Physical Education in the same gymnasium I had PE in when I was a student! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at [email protected].

P.E. Philosophy:
I have a strong background in fitness and athletics and provide my students with the skills needed for lifelong wellness. In the classroom, safety is the top priority. Next, students will be active! Finally, I want the students of St. Louise to have fun.

Class Rules:
  • Students are required to freeze on the whistle!
  • To ensure a safe and efficient learning environment, students must listen and follow directions.
  • Respect the learning environment, including respecting the instructor, the equipment, classmates, and yourself.
  • Be prepared by bringing athletic shoes (and P.E. uniform in gr. 6-8) to class.
  • Always give your best effort!
Sick/Injured/Unable to Participate:
Students who are unable to participate are required to bring a note from a parent/guardian to class. Emails are not always accessible during class. Without a note, students are expected to try their best. If excused from activity, a student may be put to work depending on their capabilities. This could mean helping me with the equipment, helping to referee, or keeping statistics. Please bring something to work on if I do not have work for you, as you will lose points if you simply sit out and do nothing. If a 6-8 student is unable to participate for more than 1 week that student will be required to complete an extra credit assignment (see below) in class to serve as their daily evaluation. Grades k-5 will have an in class worksheet to complete for their daily evaluation.

Daily/Weekly Plan:
  • Grades that meet twice a week (K-6) will have one class of skill development/activity.
  • Grades 7 and 8 will have a balance between fitness and activities.
Grading:
Each student will have an opportunity to earn 3 points every P.E. class. Students who bring their materials (P.E. shoes in K-8; P.E. uniform in 6-8), listen and follow the directions given while respecting the learning environment, and give their best effort, will earn 3’s. If a student does not meet any of the expectations, points will be lost. A “non-suit” for a grade 6-8 student will result in losing 1 point (-1). Daily points earned will be posted on Skyward. If a student loses points during a lesson a comment will be inserted into their daily Skyward evaluation with an explanation for the reduced grade.

Have a blessed year and remember… best effort = best results!
