Social Studies Assignments

Each student needed to bring in a "kid-friendly" source about their assigned Greek god or goddess by Monday, May 8th.  Students are working alone or in pairs to research the god/goddess and create a poster to present to the class.  Here are some websites students may use if they need more sources:  History for Kids; National Geographic Kids; Primary Homework Help: Ancient Greece; Ducksters.com: Ancient Greece for Kids

By Monday, May 8th students need to check all their grades on Skyward using their own student login.

Read Lesson 8:  Early Indian Empires pp. 58-63.  Define and illustrate in color the 4 vocabulary words.

Finish Lesson 7 Main Idea notes for Part C:  Hinduism on pp. 56-57.  You should have notes for 8 paragraphs.  Then use your Lesson 7 WS to complete Check Understanding p. 57 #1-3.  Be sure to answer each question in a 4-5 sentence paragraph.  Highlight or underline the vocabulary words for #1.  Staple the WS behind your Check Understanding assignment.

Final Egypt Projects are due today.  Then you will have time in class to practice presenting with your partner.

Typed final versions of your main idea notes and bibliography for your Egypt Project are due today.  Try one of these to help you create your bibliography:

Rough draft of your Combined Main Idea Notes due today.  Using the format on the worksheet below, combine your notes with your partner onto one document.  Please put your name next to your source/notes sections.  There should be at least 4 sources with main idea notes for each pair.

Re-read your two sources about your Egypt project topic and type main idea notes following the directions on the worksheet below.

Two sources due for your Egypt project.  Make sure you have read them to ensure they really cover your topic and are "kid-friendly".  If it's an electronic source, please print it out (no more than 3 pages please) with the URL so you have the information for your bibliography.  If it is a book source, read the chapter/part for your topic and put a sticky note on the pages you intend to use for your research.

Revised Current Event:  students discussed their first drafts of their current events articles that they read over the weekend in small groups.  They are to follow the directions on the file below to type their revision by Thursday, 10/27.

Test:  Unit 1, Lessons 1 & 2 - Students should use the test review worksheet to help prepare for their first test in social studies.

Students are to access the online social studies book, create a new account, print their username & password, and copy it onto the blue worksheet given in class.
