Language Arts Assignments

Study for the final Holocaust Test using your corrected study guide, Holocaust folder, Journeys anthology, and social studies Volume 2.  Test format will be multiple choice, matching, fill-in-the-blank, short & long essay.

Complete the Holocaust Unit Study Guide packet using your Holocaust folder, Journeys anthology, and social studies Volume 2 as resources.  We will correct the three page packet on Tuesday, May 9th and the Holocaust Final Test will be on Wednesday, May 10th.

Read "Passage to Freedom" in your Holocaust folder.  Then type your answers to the comprehension questions #1-7 on p. 66.  Remember to re-state and answer in 2-4 sentences.

Students are following the pre-writing and drafting process as they write a compare/contrast paper about the novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry and the movie Remember the Titans.  There are different deadlines each day.

Reading Calendars for Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry are below.  Students have daily homework, including weekends, to read, answer literature questions, define vocabulary, and complete other activities.  There are vocabulary and reading quizzes over the next 7 weeks as well as a BIG two-day final exam when we finish the novel.

Due Mon. 2/13:  Prewriting worksheet (two-sided WS given in class Fri. 2/10) and typed rough draft (Double-Spaced)

Due Tues. 2/14:  Final draft (Single-Spaced) with rough draft & prewriting stapled behind it.

2 Copies of Halloween Poem Final Draft Due Today:  It must be typed & SINGLE-SPACED to fit on one page.  One copy is for grading, the other should be glued onto the artwork poster students created in class and finished for homework.

NW Catholic Magazine essay scoring rubrics need to be shared with a parent and signed by Wednesday, 10/26.

Read "Eleven" pp. 36-40 and answer questions #1-11 from the Guided Reading worksheet given in class on a separate piece of loose leaf or it may be typed.  An extra copy of the worksheet is below, but it does not have the Venn diagram on the back, so you'll have to create your own if you lost the first worksheet.
