Welcome to 6th Grade!

This is a HUGE year of growth for students as they learn to navigate changing classes more frequently as well as using a locker!  I teach both classes language arts and social studies, and religion to my homeroom, 6B.
Our Service Focus for the year is St. Vincent de Paul.  We have a guest speaker come in the fall, then we visit the food bank to deliver our collected items and help work.  For more information, visit their website:
Sixth grade is a great time to step back and let your student try to manage his/her own learning.  You can support your student by checking his/her student planner and helping with time management.  Remember, 6th graders should plan on spending 60-90 minutes on homework every night, including weekends!  Silent reading and writing book reports for independent reading is an ongoing expectation each trimester.
Thank you for your support!  It's going to be a great year!
