Student Support

At St. Louise School, our primary goal is to create an inclusive classroom environment that supports all learning styles, ensuring that every student is set up for success. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive support services that address the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students within a nurturing community.

Commitment to Inclusivity

Our approach to education is rooted in the belief that every child deserves personalized attention and resources. We focus on fostering a learning environment where students feel valued and empowered. By embracing diverse learning styles, we help each child reach their full potential.

Academic Support

We support the academic needs of our students in a variety of ways, all of which are designed to be integrated with classroom instruction.  Much of this academic support occurs in our Learning Lab.

  • Learning Specialists:
    • One-on-one and small group instruction tailored to each student's needs.
    • Strategies for differentiated instruction that align with the classroom curriculum.
    • Regular communication with parents to ensure a cohesive support system.
    • Our dedicated learning specialists play a pivotal role in supporting students' unique learning needs. They collaborate with classroom teachers to develop individualized Student Support Plans that address specific challenges.
    • Learning specialists provide:

  • Occupational Therapy (OT):
    • Executive functioning skills (time management, focus, organization, emotional control).
    • Fine, gross, and visual motor skills.
    • Sensory processing.
    • Social skills.
    • We have partnered with Mrs. Mansi Dalal, OTD, OTR/L, Founder of Butterfly Pediatric Therapy, to provide Occupational Therapy for qualifying students. OT focuses on developing essential skills that contribute to academic success, such as:

  • Speech Therapy:

      • Articulation skills (clarity in producing sounds, words, and sentences).
      • Oral motor skills (coordination of oral muscles).
      • Feeding and swallowing difficulties.
      • Expressive and receptive language skills.

      • Stuttering and fluency issues.
      •
  • Afterschool Homework Club provides a place for students to begin their daily homework in a supervised environment.

  • Before & Afterschool tutorials are provided to students who are identified as requiring additional instruction, either one-on-one or in small groups.

  • Enrichment opportunities are provided for our middle school students through the Decathlon program that challenges students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a variety of ways.

Social-Emotional Support

We support the social-emotional needs of our students by providing a positive classroom experience led by our outstanding faculty who genuinely care about the well-being of their students.  In addition to the classroom experience, we provide the following programs designed to support the social-emotional needs of our students.

  • Friendzy is a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program for students from Preschool through middle school. The program's goal is to help students develop skills that contribute to their academic success, social and emotional growth, and overall well-being.

  • Our school counselor plays a critical role in supporting our students' academic, social, and emotional development. Some of our counselor’s responsibilities include:
    • Helping students build confidence, develop study skills, and transition to the next grade
    • Counseling students individually and in small groups
    • Referring students to outside agencies when additional support is needed
    • Listening to students, parents, and colleagues about their concerns
    • Providing guidance and support to students and their families, especially during times of transition
    • Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to help students improve their classroom performance
    • Advocating for equity and access for all students
