Service Project : Coats for St. Vincent de Paul

First grade students  in 1A and 1B at Saint Louise School care about others in our community. The first grade classes collected coats for families that are in need and donated the coats to Saint Vincent de Paul. The students collected warm jackets and coats during the fall and winter months. Many students donated coats of their own and asked family members, friends and neighbors to donate coats of all sizes.  The first graders collected so many  coats that they filled an entire van. On Tuesday, February 28, 2017, Mrs. Donna Whitford, Director of Donor Development at  St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle / King County came to Saint Louise School to pick up the donations. She thanked the first grade students and explained how much the coats will help children and families that are served by St. Vincent de Paul. She talked about service and answered questions that students asked. The students also made cards to accompany the coats with drawings and expressions such as, “Have a happy day.” and “I really liked this coat. I hope you like it too.”
