St. Louise School Student Receives Math-Based Scholarship

Olivia Manning, a St. Louise School student from Issaquah, was recently awarded a $1000 scholarship by the Raytheon Company to be used for either a math, science, or technology program, or saved for her first year of college. As part of Raytheon’s program, St. Louise School also received a matching $1,000 grant to explore the different efforts underway to improve STEM (or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education and inspire our future generation of innovators.

Olivia was selected from a national pool of 6th, 7th and 8th grade student applicants who were tasked with creating a multimedia presentation which illustrated the importance of math in the world around them. Student submissions were evaluated on creativity, originality, time commitment and the use of math equations to demonstrate an enthusiasm for the subject matter.
